High profile Inheritance Act claim reported in the press

It has been reported that the girlfriend of the late Gerry Rafferty has issued a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 ("the 1975 Act") after the singer died and his Will, which he had made before he met his girlfriend Ms Fuschini in 2008, made no provision for her.

It is reported that Gerry Rafferty left his Estate to his granddaughter and his daughter Martha. It is estimated that the royalties to his famous song "Baker Street" will earn the beneficiaries of his Estate £80,000 per year alone.

At this stage few details are known about the claim that Ms Fuschini is bringing, however this is a high profile example of a claim made under the 1975 Act and is likely to bring the challenge of Wills into the public eye once more.

We will keep Members updated on this case when more details are reported.
