Education Employment Associate / Partner

Overall objective

As we expand our work for all types of education institutions from nurseries to universities, we are looking for an ambitious Education Employment Associate or Partner to develop and grow work for state funded education institutions. We have recently been successful in a number of tenders and have been appointed to the CPC Panel for FE Colleges. Increasing the amount of work we do for the state funded sector is high on our list of priorities.

Client following and contacts across the sector desirable, but not required.

Passion for education and charities essential!

Required skills, knowledge and experience

The successful candidate will have a track record in managing a team as well as marketing & business development. They must also have a strong record as an Employment lawyer. Admitted solicitor with current Practising Certificate and expertise in education law. Must demonstrate an ability to work to the SRA Skills Standards and to provide accurate, focussed advice to clients.

Skills Required

The ability to:

  • develop strong client relationships with key players in FE, colleges & academies, maintained sector including trust schools
  • strong leadership skills; able to motivate others in the team and to supervise solicitors, legal assistants and trainee solicitors
  • interview and advise clients, helping them decide the best course of action
  • communicate concisely both verbally and in writing with colleagues and clients
  • draft documents that are clear and concise
  • conduct effective case and transaction management
  • advocate and present orally when required
  • research the relevant legal issues applicable to a case
  • conduct negotiations where appropriate
  • use confidently office IT applications; good typing skills
