Overall objective
To work with colleagues to help clients succeed in realising their business or personal objectives, through the efficient delivery of appropriate legal advice and assistance in support of the Education & Charities Sector Plan and particularly the Education Employment sub-plan.
Required skills, knowledge and experience
Either an admitted solicitor with current practising certificate specialising in employment law, or due to qualify as a solicitor by September 2009. Must demonstrate an ability to accurate, focussed advice to clients. The expectation is that the appointee will either be newly qualified, having undertaken a relevant employment seat during training or have 1 to 2 years' post-qualification experience of employer-focussed employment law practice. The appointee need not have education experience, although this would be a clear advantage.
Skills required
The ability to:
- develop strong client relationships with schools, education institutions and other charities by telephone and in person
- advise clients, helping them decide the best course of action
- communicate concisely both verbally and in writing with colleagues and clients
- draft documents that are clear and concise
- conduct effective case and transaction management
- research the relevant legal issues applicable to a case
- conduct negotiations where appropriate
- use confidently office IT applications; good typing skills
