Inheritance, will and trust disputes

Jenna joined Veale Wasbrough Vizards as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2008 and qualified into the Private Client Team in September 2010. Examples of recent cases

  • Jenna recently worked as part of the team that represented eight residuary beneficiaries in High Court proceedings relating to the construction of a home-made Will. There were seventeen Defendants involved in this litigation regarding a multi-million pound Estate, issued by the Executors in order to obtain clarification in relation to a number of clauses of the Will. Other Defendants included the Attorney-General and a charity.

  • Jenna acted for a widow in a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, achieving a successful settlement. The facts were unusual as the deceased died intestate as his marriage to the widow, shortly before his death, had revoked his Will under which the widow had been a main beneficiary.

  • Jenna represented two adult children defending a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 against their late father's intestate Estate by the deceased's long-term partner. This claim was successfully settled by way of a mediation.

  • Jenna acted on behalf of a claimant under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 who had been maintained by the deceased. The Claimant was a friend of the deceased (and the deceased's late husband), and had been residing with the couple for a number of decades, and had cared for the couple for many years. The case was successfully settled with the cooperation of a number of charities who also benefitted under the Will.
