We are delighted to present the 2010 National Family Business Survey.
The survey has been developed jointly by the University of the West of England (Bristol) and Veale Wasbrough Vizards, to help inform our understanding of family businesses. It covers key family business issues such as governance, succession, business structure, family involvement and what it is like to work in or for a family business.
In 2006 it was estimated family businesses contributed over £400 billion of the £1,000 billion GDP in the private sector. They contributed £47 billion per annum in taxes which is almost 10% of total UK tax receipts. However, there is relatively little information about their governance, scope, scale and strategy. Hence the reason for this survey - the first one of its kind to be conducted in the UK.
If you chose to take part in the survey, the information you provide will enable the development of a very comprehensive picture of businesses which will be used to inform policy and practice in the UK.
All of the data collected through this questionnaire will be kept strictly confidential. The data collected from this questionnaire will become the property of Veale Wasbrough Vizards.
All the information gathered will be collated and published in various reports and formats. Information will be reported in anonymous form and will be non-attributable. At the end of the survey you will have the opportunity to request these reports.
Thank you for your interest in this project.
