Since 2004 the marketisation of the NHS has continued apace. It is not popular with all in the profession, but many have seen new opportunities to provide services and enter into new arrangements. We have been much involved in helping our clients to take these opportunities.
We helped Assura Medical (now owned by Virgin) to establish its business, working with groups of GP practices to set up 50/50 joint ventures across the country. We have also advised groups of GPs on setting up their own joint ventures without the need for a private sector partner such as Assura or Ashley House.
We have advised on a number of other joint venture structures using LLPs and companies, arising out of the abolition of the goodwill rules in relation to primary care and the deregulation o the business of dentistry.
We are expert in advising on the NHS contracts that are the foundation of any provider organisation's business.
