GP Commissioning

We have over 25 years' experience of helping GPs document their legal relationships, whether through their internal partnership agreements or their joint venture arrangements with each other and private sector partners. With the advent of GP Commissioning, GPs are obliged to work together in an entirely new way. They need rights and controls over each other's practices that would have been unheard of before 2011.

We are able to advise on all aspects of GP commissioning.

We advise on the legal structure of commissioning groups during their pathfinder and shadow phases. We advise on the constitution of the consortium, and guide clients as to the issues to consider when setting up the "rules and regulations" of their consortia. We advise on the need for the consortium to have clear policies and procedures in place, in order to avoid decisions being challenged because of apparently bias or conflict of interest.

We advise on the transfer of staff from PCTs to consortia and on TUPE.

Thanks to the firm's public sector team we are experts in competition and procurement law, which commissioners now have to grapple with.

We are active in lecturing across the country on developments in this area.

VWV is 'excellent in all fields' and has a 'great primary care practice'.
