Planning

We advise local planning authorities in relation to all aspects of town and country planning and highways including statutory agreements and enforcement, and highways.

We regularly advise on complex planning and infrastructure agreements. We advise on developer contributions for public infrastructure, maintenance of amenity areas, education and highways. We negotiate developer planning obligations for the provision of amenity areas and walkways and public art, affordable housing and green travel plans. We advise on planning inquiries and call-ins, and negotiate with developers in relation to the provision of new primary and secondary schools in localities.

Our highways experience includes major schemes such as PFI roads and advising on routine matters such as stopping up order applications and drafting orders, walkway agreements and section 38 and section 278 Agreements.

Work experience/case studies:

  • Advising and negotiating substantial planning obligations and advising in relation to a complex series of planning applications for the Bristol Harbourside development.
  • Advising in relation to the Gloucester Docks development which has included the conduct of a major planning inquiry on behalf of the private sector developers for whom we have been acting in that project.
  • Planning and highways work including statutory agreements for three county authorities.
