The Prime Minister has confirmed that he will make an announcement regarding easing the lockdown on Sunday 10 May, with some minor changes coming into operation the following day.
New guidance setting out further detail on the changes to the restrictions is expected to be published on Monday 11 May in the form of a 50 page Command Paper. The details of the Command Paper will continue to be debated within government until it is published and we anticipate that there may be a number of gaps in the guidance when initially published.
It is unclear whether the Command Paper will reveal specific timescales for a multi-phased relaxation of the lockdown rules or instead provide shorter-term details of the Government's 'roadmap'. It is unlikely that any dramatic changes will be made any time soon. However, this is an important development for employers as the guidance is likely to provide key messages and health and safety measures for returning to work.
We will be hosting a webinar on 13 May 2020 covering the crucial points for employers set out by the Government, as well as a Q&A session for any further questions you may have. Click here to book your free place.
