National Pharmacy Association Dares to Hope that Brexit Could Mean the End to Funding Cuts

on Monday, 01 August 2016.

The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) has announced that Brexit could give the government an opportunity to change its stance on the proposed reduction of over £170 million in pharmacy funding currently scheduled for October this year.

The proposed cuts have caused outrage in community pharmacy and over two million signatures have been delivered to the government as part of a petition against the cuts. The NPA (which led the petition) claims the funding cuts will be detrimental to patients across the country. A growing number in the pharmacy sector believe that the cuts are an unfair decision at a time when community pharmacies are being asked to play a greater role in the healthcare pathway in order to make healthcare for patients quicker and more accessible.
