The revised scheme will give employers the flexibility to bring back furloughed employees for any amount of time and any shift pattern.
As a result, the CJRS will close to new entrants from 30 June, meaning the final date by which an employer could furlough an employee for the first time was 10 June, in order to allow a three week furlough period to be complete by the end of June.
However, this week, the Government announced that people on statutory maternity and paternity leave who return to work in the coming months will be eligible for the CJRS even after the 10 June cut-off date, provided their employer has previously used the scheme. This will also apply to people on adoption leave, shared parental leave, and parental bereavement leave.
More details are expected to be announced later today. We will issue a further update once full details of the revised scheme are published.
