Coronavirus - Government Test and Trace Guidance Updated

on Friday, 18 September 2020.

In a move that has implications for employers, the Government has updated its sector specific guidance on the NHS Test and Trace scheme.

Read the guidance here.

Previously, the guidance advised that employers 'should' keep records of staff working patterns for 21 days. The updated guidance now confirms this is something employers 'must' do. Some employers whose customers attend their premises (including restaurants, hair salons, sports clubs and heritage locations) must also now ask at least one member of each customer party to provide contact details.

The guidance refers to 'new regulations' on Test and Trace which are due to come into force on 18 September 2020 and which will apparently include financial penalties for non-compliance. The draft Regulations have not yet been published, but we will provide a further update once we have sight of them.
