Discussion Paper and Call for Evidence Launched for Government's Mental Health and Wellbeing Plan

on Friday, 29 April 2022.

The Government is consulting on ideas for how employers can support and protect the mental health of staff.

As part of the Government's 'levelling up' agenda, it wishes to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes, particularly for people who experience worse outcomes than the general population across the country. The Department for Health and Social Care has published a discussion paper and call for evidence on improving mental health and wellbeing. This includes a ten-year plan to reduce the prevalence, incidence and recurrence of mental ill-health.

The paper suggests employers should show compassion, protect and promote positive mental wellbeing, by understanding and meeting physical and mental needs in the workplace. The consultation asks for ideas on what employers can do to support staff.

Consultation responses are being collected through an online survey and consultation is open until 11.45pm on 5 July 2022.
