Know Your Healthcare Advisor - Paul Heath

on Tuesday, 09 January 2018.

Paul Heath is a Senior Associate in our Healthcare Corporate and Banking team with over 15 years' experience in Company Law.

As a Company Law, Corporate Finance and Banking specialist solicitor, Paul advises dental and GP practices, and care homes on various legal matters, such as how to set up, fund, buy or sell a business as well as assist on all aspects of GP partnerships queries. Paul also works with clients in dealing with corporate governance and a range of company secretarial matters.

What Does Your Role Involve on a Day to Day Basis?

I will typically have a number of business transactions on the go at any one time, and so will be negotiating sale and purchase contracts, or helping with the due diligence process surrounding that. If any of the purchases are being bank funded, I will be advising client's upon the bank's requirements, and taking them through the security documents and conditions to their loan.

What Do You Do as Part of the Healthcare Team at VWV?

'Team' is very much the operative word here. Any business sale will involve input from any number of my specialist colleagues, particularly those in our Property, Employment and Commercial Contracts departments, and so interacting and coordinating with the rest of the Healthcare team is vital to my role.

I also deal with the outside world as well, such as attending conferences including the Care England Conference and giving talks to build our relationships with banks and professional bodies, such as the British Dental Association.

Tell Us Something Not Many People Know About You?

I previously worked in the British Virgin Islands and I am qualified as a solicitor there too. While living in the Caribbean, I learned to scuba dive and appreciate a bottle of well-aged rum, but alas these skills are sadly less relevant now I live in Watford!
