What Are the New Requirements for S1 Statements?

From 6 April 2020, all employees and workers must receive a written statement of their particulars of employment on their very first day of work at the latest.

All written statements must be compliant with section 1 of the Employment Rights Act 2006.

Previously, employers had up to two months to provide the statement and these requirements only applied to employees, not to workers.

Additional Information Required

From 6 April, s1 statements must also include:

  • the days of work and if variable how they will be varied
  • any benefits
  • details of any probationary period
  • details of any required training
