Wave of Change Hits Pharmacy Once Again as Pharmacy Minister, Alistair Burt, Resigns and David Mowat MP Steps into the Void

on Friday, 12 August 2016.

Pharmacy Minister, Alistair Burt, has announced his resignation.

The move has been criticised as a post-Brexit move made in haste. This has beendenied by Burt who claims that 'this is not a sudden Brexit resignation, it is not catching…A few weeks ago I made it clear to the secretary of state and to the prime minister and the chief whip that I wouldn’t, after the referendum, be seeking a post in what I expected to be a reshuffled government.'

David Mowat MP for Warrington South has been announced by the Department of Health as the new minister responsible for pharmacy and now takes over the controversial plan to axe £170m from the pharmacy sector’s budget in relation to the funding cuts challenged by so many in community pharmacy.
