Once the celebrations dissipate, attention for the newly elected councillors and the councils themselves will turn to the job in hand. For some elected members, this may be their first experience of politics and the first time that they have been elected to a Council. Their understanding of the governance arrangements and how the Council conducts its business maybe limited. It will be important for a smooth transition to ensure that all your elected members receive appropriate and effective induction training.
This training might include sessions on the Code of Conduct, governance and governance structure, or you might feel it necessary to focus additionally on specific service areas like planning. For those members who have been re-elected, you may wish to include them in any training to refresh or reinforce your in-house training programme.
We would be delighted to have the opportunity to work alongside you to deliver your training. We can also undertake a review and refresh your materials where necessary.
