The Information Commissioner’s Office decided that Point One Marketing Ltd – trading as “Stop the Calls” – itself obtained business from aggressive cold calls. Some complainants alleged that they had been shouted at when asking not to be contacted again. In others, the ICO said the company had obtained details from call recipients who were elderly and some with dementia. The ICO considered this case to be a serious breach of Regulation 21 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, which prohibit unsolicited communication.
