Essential HR for Line Managers & Business Owners

Line Managers, Business Owners and those responsible for staffing issues who don't have an HR background have to deal with HR issues on a daily basis, whether it's managing a disciplinary process, dealing with grievances from staff or handling performance.  Many will have had no training in these potentially tricky areas. This session is designed to cover the essentials of HR, leaving line managers better equipped to deal with these issues as they crop up.  
 
The session will cover:

  • Handling disciplinary issues fairly - including when to move from an informal to a formal process and how to conduct a formal disciplinary
  • Identifying and managing grievances - including how to identify a grievance and how to deal with grievances both informally and formally
  • How to conduct a workplace investigation - including the role of the investigator, gathering evidence and writing the report
  • How to manage performance - including when to move into a formal capability process and the interplay between sickness and performance

HR Consultants Caitlin Anniss and Sarah Martin from Narrow Quay HR,  will cover this interactive sesssion and include case studies and practical exercises to get delegates thinking.  Through the exercises we will cover issues such as subject access requests, the right to be accompanied, discrimination, keeping notes of conversations and other issues which often crop up while managing staff through HR processes
