This update for Schools and Trust Leaders covers Education Law and Governance in the morning and followed by a Data Protection & Privacy session in the afternoon.

The Education Law and Governance session focuses on legal developments, themes and hot topics in schools and academy trusts. In this session we will consider case studies, provide time for discussion and keep you up-to-date on the latest developments in safeguarding, pupil welfare, exclusions, admissions and governance.

Data protection and privacy this session focuses on four key risk areas for academy trusts.

• how to manage and respond to data breaches, and how to prevent them from happening in the first place
• information and cyber security
• sharing personal data with third parties including contractors
• how to respond to data protection related complaints from pupils, parents and staff, and a look at what could be expected in terms of fines and damages
