Safer Recruitment and Inspection Compliance for Academies

Safer recruitment is central to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and forms a key aspect of the inspection process. Schools must ensure that they properly carry out, record and evidence a raft of pre-appointment checks whether recruiting staff or entering into commercial agreements with third parties.

Understanding this area is fundamental to a successful inspection and to ensuring the safety and welfare of current and future pupils.

How We Can Help

We have a wealth of sector specific expertise and experience of safer recruitment and the inspection process, including:

Safer Recruitment Training

Schools are now free to choose what safer recruitment training they attend, provided it covers the content of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). However, the safer recruitment legal framework is complex and the subject of frequent change and it is therefore all the more important that schools receive training which keeps them up to date with current legal and regulatory requirements.

Our Safer Recruitment Training sessions cover KCSIE as well as practical recruitment issues, pre-employment checks, regulated activity, completing the SCR, dealing with allegations of abuse against staff and reporting obligations.

Single Central Register Training

Our SCR Training covers pre-appointment checks, record keeping, an in-depth look at the SCR and inspection compliance. We aim to provide clarity on your compliance requirements and to give you the confidence to challenge common misconceptions.

Our training will benefit all staff involved in the interview and appointment process, those who carry out pre-appointment checks and maintain the SCR, Designated Safeguarding Leads and those who are involved in the inspection process.
