Safeguarding reviews 

We have supported groups of international schools in undertaking safeguarding reviews across their global, regional and school-level operations. Our tailored recommendations helped the client foster a culture of safety and excellence across their organisation, enhance global safeguarding standards and re-finance their operation.

Inquest representation 

We advised a multi-academy trust in relation to the suspected suicide of a former pupil. Our support included managing police and coronial requests for disclosure, advice on becoming an Interested Person, the preparation of statements and providing representation at the 3 week long inquest hearing and the subsequent prevention of future deaths hearing. We also advised on related insurance, liability and reputational matters, ensuring our client was equipped to navigate this challenging situation with confidence.

Ensuring compliance with the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023

In addition to advising on complex student human rights and free speech matters, we have supported universities in preparing for the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023. Our work included updating their Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom Policy and Code of Practice, developing a new complaints procedure with accompanying guidance, and creating an online training course for staff and students to enhance awareness of the changes.
