This session is designed to help school leaders to prepare for September Inset and the academic year ahead.


We will provide an overview of key changes to education law and guidance applying from September 2025, as well as a summary of further changes we can expect from the new Government over the next year or so.

What we will cover:

Key changes to education law and statutory guidance for September 2025:

  • KCSIE 2025 - A revised version of which was published for information yesterday with 'technical changes only', which will come into effect on 1 September 2025.
  • The new EYFS framework, also coming into effect in September 2025
  • Use of reasonable force and restrictive intervention in schools guidance which was updated in February 2025

Changes (if any) to guidance on:

  • Relationships, sex and Health Education
  • Gender questioning children

Anticipated future changes in light of:

  • The Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill
  • The expected SEN White Paper (if published) and the government's plans for the EHCP regime
  • The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill (Martyn's Law) and protective security
  • The mandatory reporting duty - expected to come into effect in 2026
  • The DBS changes
