VWV Singled Out for Digital Transition Innovation Praise in Government's Professional and Business Services Sector Plan
The Government published its Industrial Strategy recently, setting out its blueprint to chart the growth for the UK in the next 10 years. The Strategy highlighted eight sectors featuring as important growth engines. One of those sectors is Professional Business Services.
Each of the eight sectors have had their own Sector Plan, again charting how those sectors are doing and where growth will come from.
VWV was honoured to have been picked out from the busy crowd of UK professional services businesses for particular mention as being an innovation leader.
On page 18, the Sector Plan highlighted VWV as an exemplar for taking a bold approach to digital transition. The Case Study said as follows:
"Law is one of the most tightly regulated industries, yet it is seeing some of the fastest rates of AI adoption. According to PwC’s 2024 annual law firm survey almost 90% of the top 100 UK firms have now implemented or trialled generative AI tools, up from 55 per cent in 2023. Founded in 1815, VWV, a mid-sized Legal Services firm employing almost 600 employees across 4 offices in England’s South and Midlands, has taken a bold approach to this digital transition.
The firm began investing in AI in 2020 and, by participating in Innovate UK’s Next Generation Professional and Financial Services programme, VWV has been able to invest £250,000 in AI-specific resources and launch partnerships with lawtech startup Robin AI and the Technology in Professional Services accelerator programme.
Since integrating AI tools, VWV has uniquely placed trainee solicitors at the centre of its AI strategy, has enhanced efficiencies in streamlining contract reviews, and has developed a custom software app to manage data interactions with large language models (LLMs)."
VWV are extremely proud to have been recognised as a pioneer in the adoption of AI and digital tools, having taken the unique step of putting our trainees at the centre of our strategy. This has already led to VWV winning a LawNet Award, but to be recognised by the Government's official Sector Plan for Professional Services for our digital adoption strategy is a fantastic endorsement for the steps we have been taking. We look forward to working with all our people and collaboratively with clients to continue leading the way on adoption solutions that help to enhance outcomes for our clients.
