Bessie is a Solicitor in our Family team. She can help you on family matters in connection to divorce, financial settlements and private children matters, as well as providing advice in connection to the drafting of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and advising on TOLALA/cohabitation issues. Bessie also works on Family Law Act Injunctions and has advised clients that have experienced domestic abuse.

Bessie provides compassionate care to clients, considering their individual needs and providing a specialized service. Bessie endeavors to come up with creative ways to reach resolutions for her clients and works collaboratively with the rest of the family team to ensure the best outcome for clients.

Bessie is passionate about helping couples and parents in transitional periods and providing thoughtful but pragmatic advice and legal support. She is particularly passionate about helping clients with child arrangements matters and supporting clients in navigating the legal procedures behind their relationship breakdowns.

Examples of Bessie's work includes:

  • assisting on a TOLATA matter which resulted in a substantial settlement for the client and avoided the costs of court proceedings.
  • advising on a non-molestation matter which still permitted contact between the client and the child on a regular basis by way of agreement between the parties.
  • drafting a prenuptial agreement that contained large pension resources, giving the client thorough protection and safeguarding of resources in the event of divorce.

Training at a niche high street firm, Bessie focused on seats in Family and Criminal Law, in addition to a short form secondment at an immigration firm, this broad range of training experience has given Bessie a versatile edge which she brings to all her cases.

In her spare time, Bessie enjoys reading contemporary fiction, attending music concerts and shows, sketching and drawing, and socializing with friends and family.

Bessie has been featured in an article published by 'The Lawyer' titled "What do black women in law need from their managers?" Bessie was interviewed for this piece, and she was directly quoted and she contributed to the overall data and analysis of study.

Bessie is a Mentor through the mentorship program for BAME WOMAN in LAW, an organization that supports and promotes women of ethnic backgrounds in the legal field.

Bessie completed her LLB undergraduate degree at the University of Southampton, where she obtained a 2:1. Bessie then attained an MSC with merit in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Durham University and a commendation in the LPC from the University of Law. Bessie is also a member of Resolution.
