David is a Partner in our Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence team.

David commits his time to acting on behalf of victims of clinical negligence, and has done so for more than 30 years.

Working almost exclusively on a "no win no fee" basis, David has experience of working with clients who have been affected by a delayed diagnosis of cancer, sepsis, nerve trauma and chronic pain resulting from surgery and chlorhexidine burns. He also deals with cases involving amputation, spinal and limb injuries caused by suboptimal orthopaedic surgery, shoulder dystocia and cerebral palsy.

David also helps those affected by birth defects resulting from exposure to sodium valproate in utero - an issue more widely publicised by Professor Henrietta Hughes, Patient Safety Commissioner, in her report of the 7 February 2024.

Some of the cases David has been involved in below:

  • Acting on dental negligence case for an experienced pilot who had his licence to fly revoked, due to a botched procedure that left them with chronic facial pain and medication reliance.
  • Acting on a case involving the death of a young person from sepsis, in which the coroner found evidence of systemic failings. The case attracted coverage from major media outlets.
  • Acting on a case involving a brain damaged child who took the Secretary of State to the European Court of Human Rights in order to secure a ruling on costs and preserve her award of damages.
  • Acting on a case involving a paralysed adult who had both legs amputated as the result of pressure sores caused by neglectful treatment in hospital.

Based in our Bristol office, David can support you nationally.
