
Matthew is a Corporate Onboarding Officer in our Compliance team.
Matthew is a specialist in corporate client onboarding, AML and regulatory compliance, with more than nine years’ experience of complex onboarding and due diligence matters, from client inception to completion.
He works closely with lawyers to deliver efficient, risk-based onboarding solutions, helping clients move forward quickly while ensuring compliance with UK anti-money laundering legislation, sanctions requirements and internal risk management procedures. Matthew is known for his thorough, pragmatic and collaborative approach, balancing excellent client service with meticulous attention to regulatory detail.
His experience includes:
Managing the complete client onboarding process from initial instruction to matter opening.
Conducting AML, KYC, sanctions, conflict and corporate due diligence checks for UK and international clients.
Reviewing complex corporate ownership structures and identifying ultimate beneficial owners.
Assessing risk and escalating high-risk matters where appropriate, working closely with the firms COLP.
Liaising directly with clients to obtain and verify due diligence documentation.
Supporting lawyers across corporate, employment and commercial teams with onboarding and compliance queries.
Preparing engagement documentation and ensuring client onboarding requirements are completed accurately and efficiently.
Participating in internal risk discussions and supporting firm-wide compliance and audit activities.
Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of onboarding processes and working practices.
Matthew enjoys building strong relationships with colleagues and clients and takes pride in providing a responsive, practical and commercially focused service. His significant experience enables legal teams to onboard clients efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance and risk management throughout the process.
