Keeping children safe in education – 2025 update expected soon

07 Jul 2025

The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed that the updated Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025 will be published next month, and will come into force on 1 September 2025.

Technical changes only

The Department for Education has confirmed that only technical changes will be made to KCSIE this year. The 2025 version is expected to include updated links to revised guidance on Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) and new guidance on gender questioning children.

Looking ahead, the Government has indicated that future versions of KCSIE will reflect broader developments. These are expected to include the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, emerging findings from the Casey Audit and subsequent inquiries, and the Violence Against Women and Girls strategy.

Safer Recruitment Update

We will update our Safer Recruitment Pack once the revised KCSIE is published. At this stage we anticipate that only minor adjustments will be required.

Elearning

There remains a requirement on schools to ensure all staff have read and understood relevant parts of KCSIE. For schools with our elearning on KCSIE Part 1 and 2, we will release updated versions when the 2025 version is published. If you don't currently subscribe and would be interested in learning more then please do get in touch.
