Our approach to pharmaceuticals and life sciences law

The sector is experiencing enormous changes. Government spending constraints and the changing environment following Brexit are massive challenges, but where there is change, there is opportunity.

The industry is also experiencing positive change, including:

  • the trend towards use of genomics
  • personalised treatments
  • artificial intelligence (AI)
  • the merging of medicine and technology in disease diagnosis and treatment

We help our pharmaceuticals and life sciences clients to exploit those opportunities.

Our solicitors are at the forefront of industry activity to really understand the issues different areas of the sector are facing. We build long-term relationships with clients, by understanding their business and having a commercial approach.

How can we help you?

We provide services to pharmaceutical organisations in the United Kingdom and across the world who are involved with different parts of the pharmaceutical supply chain. From early stage drug development through to manufacturing, distribution and retail pharmacy, our experienced pharmaceuticals lawyers can provide specialist legal advice.

Our clients range from entrepreneurial, innovative businesses, to ‘big pharma’, and include those involved in specialised medicine, biotechnology, cell and gene therapies, CROs, CMOs, suppliers, medical devices, digital health, distributors, importers/exporters and retail pharmacies.

We focus our legal advice and support on three core areas:

  1. Acting for pharmaceutical clients who are involved in the development and supply of medicines, including advice on clinical trials and parallel trade.
  2. MedTech, medical devices and the convergence of IT with pharma, life sciences and healthcare, including the world of digital health.
  3. Emerging life sciences - new niche areas such as genomics and personalised medicine, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) with pharma to achieve better medicine outcomes.

We support clients across multi service lines, being seen as their trusted service provider across different areas of legal need.

Our team works closely with our Healthcare and Technology teams in the fields of community pharmacy, MedTech and Digital Health, and our Higher Education team on R&D opportunities.

International reach

Our international reach combines both inbound non-UK businesses with a need for advice and assistance in the UK. We have an extensive network of contacts and close relationships throughout the world, to enable us to place clients and our wider sector contacts in expert hands, whatever their need might be.

We can introduce you to our global network of lawyers and professionals who advise and support the work of our clients in the Pharmaceuticals & Life Sciences sector. These include contacts within the Association of European Lawyers (of which we are a founding member) and Eurojuris.

Commitment to the industry

Beyond our legal services, we add value through our network of excellent contacts and building communities in the industry and internationally. This includes making introductions to our array of contacts.
