Ed leads our Commercial Litigation and our Insolvency & Restructuring Teams, which provide clients with a coordinated approach to commercial disputes, and insolvency & restructuring.

Ed has over 25 years' experience in seeking to resolve significant commercial disputes and in advising on other issues arising out of financial distress, business breakdown and insolvency.

Ed's main practice areas involve him advising on complex commercial claims; all aspects of corporate insolvency; corporate disputes (including guarantee, shareholder and warranty claims); on claims involving company directors (including allegations of breach of duty and disqualification) and on fraud, asset and debt recovery.  He also has significant experience in advising on energy and utilities litigation.

Given the often difficult circumstances in which he is instructed, Ed provides consistent, pragmatic and commercial advice to clients.  He and his teams are also willing to consider alternative fee structures for undertaking work for certain cases, including third party funding, conditional fee arrangements and damage based agreements.
Ed looks for solutions that avoid protracted litigation where possible and is often involved in assisting clients in resolving matters through the effective use of mediation, and other forms of ADR including expert determination and arbitration, as well as in taking urgent injunctive action to locate and protect assets (freezing, search and seizure orders).

Ed is based in the Bristol office, but his work is national and international. He is also on VWV's Management Board and is VWV's COLP and COFA.

Ed Husband provides the perfect mix of legal know-how and pragmatic commerciality. His efficient and targeted approach to pre-action investigations reduces risk from the outset. He has great intuition for how much a claim is worth, and how hard it will need to be fought.

Ed is on VWV's Management Board, and is a committee member of R3 in the South West.

In his mind, Ed enjoys running, cycling, and playing football. In reality, Ed occasionally does some of those things, but can more often be found coaching football and cricket and watching his sons play those sports. He has given up golf as a lost cause.
