Ed is a partner in our commercial term specialising in commercial contracts, from long term supply and services contracts and outsourcing, to distribution and agency arrangements, contractual joint ventures, framework agreements and general terms and conditions.
Ed advises a range of organisations - based both in the UK and overseas - on their contractual arrangements. He has a particular focus in the education sector (where he advises many schools and universities) and in the public and third sectors (where he advises public sector organisations and charities, together with providers to those organisations).
As well as advising on contract preparation and negotiation, Ed supports on 'in-term' contract matters, advising on the exercise of contractual rights, compliance with obligations, variation, extension and termination. Where necessary, he works closely with VWV's dispute resolution team to resolve contractual disputes, supporting clients on issues of contract interpretation.

Ed has spent time on secondment at a number of organisations in the UK and overseas, so has an understanding of the pressures faced by in-house legal and commercial teams. He is also one of VWV's representatives in Eurojuris - a network of lawyers with representative firms across Europe and beyond, helping to ensure that our clients are able to access specialist overseas advice from trusted local lawyers.
Outside of work, when not with his family Ed is an enthusiastic runner, and can often be found enjoying our countryside armed with a pair of trainers and a map!

Ed works with teams across VWV to ensure that our clients are able to benefit from specialist advice where relevant to their contracts. In particular, Ed works with our procurement specialists when working on public sector contracts, as well as regulatory compliance, employment, tax, charity and real estate colleagues where the transaction requires.
