Jacob is a Legal Director in our commercial law team, specialising in technology, renewable energy and complex commercial contracts.

Jacob has a particular interest in technology projects.

Jacob's technology practice covers software innovation and development advice; multi-party platform collaborations; digital transformation and data migration; IT outsourcing and complex cross-licensing frameworks; cyber security; AI powered services and; data management and supply contracts.

Jacob has particular expertise in the application of sophisticated data analytics and monitoring systems, especially in relation to renewable energy projects, including solar and energy storage assets. 

He is a member of the firm's technology sector group and is part of the 'lawyer-in-residence' team providing support for early stage technology companies at SETsquared Bristol, SETsquared Bath, Future Space, Bristol Robotics Laboratory and Science Creates.

Jacob has acted for clients ranging from start-ups to corporate multi-nationals, many schools and universities, charities and Government authorities across multiple sectors, including renewable energy, higher education and Ed-Tech, emergency services and health care.

Although he is based in our Bristol office, Jacob can support you nationally.

Jacob is a model solicitor. He always takes the trouble fully to understand his client’s objectives, and constraints. He has led the legal elements of a particularly complex research-intensive project for the University effectively and to a successful conclusion.

Prior to qualifying as a solicitor Jacob worked as a policy specialist for the Environment Agency. Jacob is a keen angler.

Jacob works particularly closely with the information law (data protection specialist) team and the corporate team, supporting large mergers and acquisitions and venture capital investments where data and technology services, licensing, cyber security, software rights and ownership are core aspects of these projects.
