Banking & Finance Lawyers
Lenders, particularly in property finance in 2025, face heightened risks due to fluctuating property valuations and increased borrower defaults driven by rising interest rates. Stricter regulatory scrutiny and competition for high-quality borrowers further challenge profitability and portfolio stability.

Our work highlights
Property finance
We have acted for a lender on a loan facility to assist with the acquisition of a residential property in central London for £40M. The property comprised a number of separate titles, and parts of the property were Grade I listed, which required a detailed review of the planning and listed building consents for extensive works that had been carried out at the property.
Insolvency
We acted for the receiver and lender in connection with the sale of an uncompleted development site in Ascot. This was a particularly difficult sale as there was an unregistered overage deed to deal with, the works which had been undertaken did not benefit from construction warranties and the design of the development was inadequate.
