
Ben is an experienced disputes lawyer and a Legal Director in the Commercial Litigation team.
He specialises in resolving high-value and complex commercial and corporate disputes. He always takes the time to understand his client’s objectives in order to formulate a positive and practical strategy.
He is also passionate about helping clients to reduce their fraud risk, giving specialist advice when they have been involved in a fraud. Ben is an active member of and sits on the Steering Group of the South West Fraud Forum.
Ben regularly advises clients in relation to:
- Fraud-based claims including bringing claims to recover misappropriated funds or assets/ unlawful means conspiracies
- Director and shareholder disputes
- Breach of contract
- Professional negligence
- Contentious insolvency
- Insurance disputes
His experience includes:
- Successfully defending a former director of Bonhams against a claim based on unlawful means conspiracy following the sale of the well-known Violati collection of classic Ferrari and Abarth vehicles. The collection included a famous Ferrari 250 GTO which fetched a then world record price of $38,1150,000 at auction in 2014
- Acting for a hotel group against a company contractor which defrauded the hotel group out of £1m+ and securing a judgment personally against the company director
- Acting for a high street retail client defending a threatened £multi-million claim by a well-known social media influencer
