Richard is a Partner in our Employment Law team.
He works primarily with schools and education charities both locally and nationally, advising on a wide range of employment law issues.
In doing so he often works closely with senior leadership teams, school governors and charity trustees.
He has advised clients on safeguarding matters for several years, in particular helping schools faced with safeguarding allegations against members of staff. He also advises schools on safer recruitment requirements, carries out audits of single central registers and advises on the inspection process. Richard jointly leads our safer recruitment training programme.
Richard works closely with colleagues in our Regulatory Compliance team, with whom he has worked on safeguarding audits for several groups of international schools.
Richard also advises on recently introduced safer recruitment requirements for organisations who provide supported accommodation to 16 and 17 year old care leavers and looked after children.
Richard is based in our Bristol office but can support you nationally.

Richard is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. He has previously worked in London and Dubai. He is a regular road cyclist, still plays some football and enjoys music and films.
Richard has written articles for several education sector publications on a range of education employment subjects.
