Claire Turner is a Consultant Solicitor in the Commercial team, specialising in Higher Education work and joined the team in 2019.
Claire was previously Director of Legal and Insurance Services at the University of Exeter and has extensive experience of research, education and commercial contracts for universities, having worked within the higher education sector since 2005.

Since 2016 Claire has provided interim in-house legal support to some prestigious names, including University of Bristol, University of Southampton, Bath Spa University and LSE.
Her wide experience of working in-house in the HE sector means that Claire understands her university clients' needs extremely well and can provide informed, pragmatic advice on a range of contractual and HE related issues.

What You Might Like to Know
Claire is a former committee member of the Association of University Legal Practitioners and was Chair of Devon & Somerset Law Society In-house Lawyers Group for several years. She has mentored HE sector lawyers and delivered training on working with in-house lawyers and within the HE sector.
In addition to her role with VWV, Claire works as a legal translator from German to English on a freelance basis. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, swimming and learning Italian.
