Hannah is an Associate in the Commercial Law Team, specialising in data protection and information law.

Hannah advises on all areas of information law, including data protection compliance, data processing and data sharing arrangements, international data transfers, data protection due diligence, data protection in the context of corporate transactions, personal data breaches, information requests (including subject access requests and erasure requests), disclosures of personal data, and biometrics.

Other areas of specialism include advising on requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations, often in the context of advising on the application of exemptions, conducting internal reviews, and responding to complaints made to the Information Commissioner's Office. In addition, Hannah also advises clients on the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations in relation to marketing activities and cookie compliance.

Hannah has worked closely with clients across the public and private sectors navigate complex information law issues in various contexts, including corporate transactions, adopting new technologies (including AI and EdTech), research, commercial transactions, charitable incorporations, and employment disputes.

Hannah draws on her experience working outside of the legal sector to provide clients with pragmatic and user-friendly support. She believes that building strong relationships with her clients is the key to effectively understanding their needs and providing a tailored experience.

Hannah particularly enjoys the commercial side of data protection, working with clients of all sizes to deliver cost-effective, practical solutions. She is highly regarded for her ability to cut through the noise, and provide sensible, easy-to-understand advice.

 

What You Might Like to Know

Hannah is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Before beginning her legal career, Hannah worked within the NHS for several years, working predominantly with patients suffering from traumatic brain injury and stroke. Following this, she spent four years in editorial and research positions in the scientific and legal publishing sectors.

Outside of work, Hannah enjoys running and practising yoga, cooking, and reading.
