James is a Partner in our Bristol based Regulatory Compliance team. He is a specialist in education law and dispute resolution.
He advises on a wide range of contract, common law and regulatory issues and disputes affecting education providers including, complaints handling, equality, debt and contract issues, safeguarding and exams regulation.
He can assist you to implement/review policies and consumer contracts, the investigation of serious incidents and complaints, launching/answering formal and informal complaints and with early dispute resolution where appropriate. Where escalation is necessary or unavoidable, James is also experienced at handling pre-litigation, mediated and court actions for the firm's public, private and third sector clients.
James's approach is strategic and solutions focussed. He understands the importance of avoiding protracted and costly disputes and offers clear, practical and cost effective advice.
James has presented variously on equality, exams regulation, debt and contract matters for independent schools, and regularly contributes to articles, including for VWV's Schools Law Brief (subscribe), University Business and Independent Leader Magazine.
In his spare time, he is a father to two young children and interested in history and theatre, where time permits. James is also a keen cyclist and at the weekend you will often find him on two wheels.
