Unfortunately, 24% of UK businesses have stopped preparing to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) under the mistaken belief that the GDPR will no longer apply due to Brexit, according to figures from research by Crown Records Management, the information management company. The company had surveyed 408 IT decision makers at UK businesses employing between 100 and 1,000 people. The number who are mistaken rises to 44% in terms of those thinking that the GDPR will stop applying once the UK leaves the EU.
The data protection law is going to change from 25 May 2018, and it will continue to apply after Brexit has happened. The Government has made it clear. There are lots of things that organisations need to do now to get ready.
