Monsanto is famous for its genetically modified seed specialism and controversial projects such as Agent Orange.
Bayer originally made a takeover offer of US$62billion and was told a resounding no as Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant felt that the offer had significantly undervalued the company. Sure enough, a revised offer followed and a new staggering US$66billion is on the table.
