BioMe's capsules travel to a targeted spot in the intestine to collect samples which can then be analysed in a laboratory. The pills consist of polymer plastic so they can sense where they are in the gut.
The capsules are expected to cost £2 each, which compare very favourably to £800 endoscopies and could potentially save the National Health Service a considerable amount of money. BioMe's Soren Thomsen said it was still being developed but could be revolutionary when it is finished.
