The Foundation was created in 1963, and has been supporting Bristol charities since its creation. The Foundation Trustees are delighted to have the opportunity to continue the work of their founder in supporting this vital Bristol project.
Bristol Cathedral is justifiably renowned for its superb choral music, and the main Cathedral organ is an important part of Bristol's history. The historic organ now requires extensive renovations to preserve the wonderful sound, and the fundraising effort is being led by the Bristol Cathedral Trust. The million-pound donation has skyrocketed the campaign to almost £1.5m of its £2m target to restore the instrument.
Simon Heald, VWV's Managing Partner, commented:
"It has been our pleasure to help the Harry Crook Foundation facilitate such an extraordinary donation to one of Bristol's most iconic religious landmarks. The donation will go a long way to ensuring that the Cathedral's music will be experienced by many more generations to come."
Richard West, Chairman of the Trustees of the Harry Crook Foundation and Harry Crook's great-nephew, said:
“My co-trustees and I are delighted to support this wonderful project which we are sure Harry Crook would have been excited to be part of. Harry loved to support the city and people of Bristol and had a great fondness for the Cathedral and for its outstanding choral work.”
