Jo is a Legal Director who advises on data protection and information law. Jo acts for a range of organisations including schools (both state funded and independent), further education colleges, universities, charities and businesses.
Prior to specialising in data protection and information law, Jo was an education lawyer, and has particular expertise in the education sector.
Jo advises on a full range of information law matters including data protection compliance, drafting policy documentation and privacy notices, subject access requests and requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, as well as personal data breaches and ICO correspondence and complaints.
Jo also advises on education specific issues such as the use of biometrics and CCTV, use of pupil images, fundraising and wealth profiling, data handling in the context of parental complaints and disputes, and commercial issues including drafting data sharing agreements and data processing agreements, website compliance, data protection due diligence and international data transfers.
Jo regularly speaks at seminars and conferences, and provides training on data protection and information law.

Outside of work, Jo volunteers at her local hospital, and enjoys reading, cooking and travelling.
