White Paper and Academisation Agenda - Join Our Events

on Friday, 29 April 2022.

Need help navigating the academisation agenda? Our specialist solicitors are running a series of events with ISBL and can support you every step of the way.

The Academisation Agenda

The DfE's White Paper: Opportunity For All - Strong Schools with Great Teachers for Your Child, highlights the government's ambition to achieve a "fully trust led system" by 2030.

This means that:

  • maintained schools are expected to convert within a MAT
  • single academies are expected to transfer to a MAT
  • smaller MATs are encouraged to merge with other MATs or secure growth on a school by school basis

How Can We Help

We understand the challenges facing schools and groups of schools converting to academies. We can provide expert support to make the conversion to academy status a smooth and hassle free process, including helping you with:

  • finding the right model for your school or group
  • the consultation process
  • staff transfers
  • the establishment of the academy trust
  • funding agreement, transfer agreement and land transfers

Join Our Events

In association with the Institute of Business Leaders (ISBL), we are hosting a series of webinars to help you navigate some of the legal and practical issues arising out of the White Paper and the academisation agenda, whatever the status of your organisation.

We will consider:

  • the legal implications of the White Paper in relation to academisation
  • our thoughts on the direction of travel
  • areas of focus for governing bodies and senior leaders
  • the process of academisation within a MAT

Simply select the webinar which best fits your organisation's status, and click to book your place.

In addition, our panel session will give you the opportunity to ask your questions to our team of experts.

What About Local Authorities?

Local authorities will be able to establish new MATs where too few strong trusts exist. Safeguards will be put in place to manage any potential conflicts of interest and the different roles MATs and local authorities play in the school system. This will include limiting local authority involvement on the board.

They will also introduce new powers enabling the Secretary of State to bring a local authority’s maintained schools into the academy system where a local authority has requested this as part of their local strategic plans.

To discuss what the academisation agenda means for your local authority, please complete the form below or call Allison Cook on 07787 126336.
