Admission authorities (ie Boards of Trustees and Governing Bodies) have legal obligations relating to admissions under the two statutory codes. Many admission tasks must be carried out on an annual basis.

We recommend that schools start thinking about their admission arrangements before the end of the school year in July, to leave ample time in the Autumn term for implementing any changes they would like to make.

Join Joanna Goddard, a VWV admission law specialist, as she goes through the law and process relating to admission arrangements and discusses some of the challenges schools face when dealing with individual applications.

  • Preparing clear and compliant admission arrangements (including top tips relating to the most common oversubscription criteria)
  • Consultation, determination, publication and  variation of Admission Arrangements
  • Objections to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator
  • Applications in the normal admission round and in-year admissions
  • Admission of children with challenging behaviour (or twice excluded)
  • Admission Appeal Hearings (in summary only – not training for panel members or clerks)
