New Guidance Published for Employers Making Redundancies

on Friday, 28 August 2020.

The Department for Work and Pensions has published guidance for employers who are making redundancies in response to the economic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The redundancy factsheet for employers outlines the Jobcentre Plus Rapid Response Service (RRS), which provides links to useful governmental and non-governmental services and information about voluntary redundancy and early retirement. There is also information on how employees struggling to cope with redundancy can access support.

Coronavirus guidance employers

The RRS is a free redundancy service offering support and advice to employers and employees who are affected by redundancy on preparing a CV, identifying training needs, providing training for vocational skills and providing benefits information. The RRS does not provide procedural advice on fair workforce planning exercises, but focuses on the wider support employers can offer affected staff. Employers may wish to provide details of the RRS and any other available support to affected staff during workforce planning exercises.
