Redundancy - Risk Areas and Common Pitfalls

In today's financial climate, organisations are coming under increasing financial pressure, meaning redundancies are sometimes unavoidable. In this HR Club we will examine the redundancy process, focusing in detail on five of the most commonly encountered problem areas. This free interactive session will centre around practical case studies, covering carefully selected topics, including:

• Redundancy and equality - dealing with employees on maternity leave or who are "disabled" within the definition under the Equality Act 2010
• Issues around selection for redundancy, including "bumping" and pooling
• Dealing with fixed term employees
• The duty to consider alternative employment
• The effect of mobility clauses

We will use practical scenarios to put these issues in context and explore ways of managing potential risk areas in accordance with best practice. There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions.
