Insolvency Issues for Property Practitioners
 
When the owners or tenants of commercial property become insolvent, there are various potential issues for property practitioners to consider. Ambuja Bose, a partner in our Insolvency and Restructuring team, will discuss some of them. Ambuja will be joined by a licensed Insolvency Practitioner who has experience of acting as an LPA Receiver, to discuss some of the ways in which Surveyors and other property professionals can work with Receivers in making disposals of assets more efficient and to maximise recoveries for creditors.
 
This is the Modern World
 
Heads of terms for lease renewals often state that the new lease will be on the same terms as the existing lease "subject to necessary modernisation".  Jon Durham, a partner in our Commercial Property team, considers what "necessary modernisation" might actually mean in the context of leases that may have been granted many years ago, and identifies some of the "modern" provisions that both landlords and tenants may wish to include in a new lease.
